Seaspan currently has robust and cost-effective pipe fabrication capabilities which support shipbuilding for Canada under the National Shipbuilding Strategy. Collaboration between PipeCloud and Seaspan centers on utilizing PipeCloud’s advanced Manufacturing Execution System (MES) software, which is specifically designed to enhance and streamline the prefabrication of piping systems. PipeCloud’s technology focuses on optimizing the entire pipe production process, enabling shipyards like Seaspan to achieve significant improvements in efficiency, quality, and overall productivity.

As one of Canada’s largest shipbuilders, and a strategic partner for the Royal Canadian Navy and Canadian Coast Guard, Seaspan is dedicated to ensuring that the latest innovations in shipbuilding are being used in its shipyards. PipeCloud’s MES software will smoothly integrate with Seaspan’s current production processes, ensuring top-notch standards in pipe prefabrication every step of the way.

Setting the Pace in Global Shipbuilding

Through this collaboration, Seaspan is bringing in a proven software automation solution to dramatically improve throughput and efficiencies. With PipeCloud’s software in its toolkit, Seaspan will be able to deliver with pinpoint accuracy, faster turnaround times, and better cost efficiency. This partnership highlights Seaspan’s commitment to innovation and keeping its competitive edge sharp in a rapidly changing industry.

Looking Ahead: Innovation Meets Arctic Challenges

As global attention shifts to the Arctic and the critical role of advanced vessels in this region, the PipeCloud-Seaspan partnership is a shining example of what innovation and collaboration can achieve. Together, they’re raising the bar for shipbuilding automation, ensuring Seaspan is ready to tackle the challenges of the future.

“To support Seaspan’s construction of the Canadian Coast Guard’s new heavy Polar Icebreaker, the first to be built in the Canada in 60 years, there was a need to expand Seaspan’s capacity for pipe spool fabrication,” said Jari Anttila, Chief Operating Officer, Seaspan Shipyards. “By integrating PipeCloud’s technology within our current preproduction process, we believe we will achieve significant improvements in production efficiency and precision, supporting the construction of the Polar Icebreaker as well as offering huge advantages in the construction of other Federal and commercial partners, as well as other markets. We look forward to working with PipeCloud as we continue to build ships for Canada.”
